DDU Connect, a dream venture for a DDUian, took off for its flight on 14th February 2012. With the minutest of the details clear in Connect’s Team, they were ready to start off for class to class campaigning. There was a tickling feeling in the stomach thinking that what will be the students’ response like, when they will be told that their university is going to have THEIR OWN newspaper which will be totally handled by the students themselves. So, with great motivation and enthusiasm, the volunteers of the tabloid started campaigning in the 4th semester classes.
The campaigning went off very smoothly and very coincidentally the same day happened to be the Valentine’s Day and DDUians had no idea what so ever that such a big proposal was waiting for them. After completing almost all the 4th semester classes, it was roughly recess time (12.45 PM). The desk had already been setup and it was only waiting for the generous and charming DDUians to get themselves registered. Meanwhile when the campaigning was going on, the other group of volunteers had put up all the posters in the University and had made all the preparations with the forms and all the other necessary things.
The campaigning was now over in almost all 4th Semester classes and now it was the time to see DDUians responding to their stimuli. I still remember, the campaigning team after some hardcore campaigning for 2 long hours was distressed with hunger and was totally exhausted after campaigning. After announcing in the last class of 4th Semester (I guess it was Chemical), they gradually approached to see the response at the subscription desk. And Oh boy! What a sight it was!! The desk was completely surrounded by the DDUians inquiring inquisitively about the tabloid and their eyes brimming with adrenaline were hunting for DDU Connect’s Subscription Form. The volunteers were more than happy to help them. Seeing this sight the fatigue struck campaigners forgot their hunger and the exertion totally (and who says magic doesn’t exist!). All of them almost galloped clumsily towards the desk and did the needful in helping people fill the subscription forms. At the end, in only half an hour almost more than 100 DDUians had showered their immense love on their first ever University Newspaper and more than 70 took the forms and promised to visit the desk the next day. With such a fun filled day and seeing the overwhelming response the excitement in us for the next day just doubled..!!
Day 1 of DDU Connect was a herald to forecast the commencement of historical and unreplicable saga in the chronicle of DDU’s epic book. DDU Connect was just people’s venture and they welcomed it with insurmountable love. Check out the next post to know what happen on Day 2.
