Independence Day Celebrations

On Thursday, August 15, 2013, DDU students and the faculties enthusiastically celebrated the nation’s 67th Independence Day. The flag hoisting ceremony was held at 9:30 am in the central lawn. The University wore a festive look with flags and songs and the patriotism in the air. NCC cadets paid a guard-of-honour to VC sir and the chief guest – Shri Dinsha Patel, Union Minister and Member of Parliament. Five school girls gave a hearty welcome to all the dignitaries by performing a graceful dance. After that, Shri Dinsha Patel hoisted the flag. All present saluted the tricolour, sang the national anthem and resolved once again to serve the country and make it a better place to live in. D.P. Desai school students were also present to participate in a ceremony this grand and noble. Dinsha Patel gave a very inspiring speech to the future of the country. The ceremony lasted for an hour and then everyone departed as an inspired and patriotic Indian.
